3 Great Places to Meet Women in New York City

Where to Meet Women NYCWomen are everywhere in New York City, but you’re still single.

If you think women are jumping at the chance to meet their future husbands in a bar, you’re wrong.

Women hope they meet men at bar for two reasons: 1) To hook up 2) Because they haven’t found a good one anywhere else.

That’s where some bravado comes in on your part.  There are lots of places to meet great women all around you, but you have to take your eyes off your iPhone and get out there in the real world.

Rec Sports Leagues:

These are a great place to meet all kinds of people. There are people there to relive their high school football days, people there for the drink specials afterwards, and women who, in the back of their minds, are looking for a fun, friendly man. Be that man for her.

Here’s why rec leagues work so well: you’re playing as a team, week after week, so you get to know what a person is like.

Women will often look for direction on rules so be nice to her and encouraging. On the flip, you get to see a woman get down and dirty playing the sport of your choice. Whether she’s a better trash talker than you, or a diva there for the short-shorts, you get to learn about her personality.

And don’t be the dude too busy for happy hour afterwards.  Here is where you can drop a few jokes and see what she’s interested in.  Want to be the team hero? Buy the first pitcher.

Your Friend’s Place – Not Your Best Friend’s Place:

You’ve probably asked around your immediately circle of friends if they know any worthwhile, eligible ladies.  If they did, you probably would have met her already.

Instead, make some group plans with someone like a close co-worker, or a Facebook friend you don’t see that often.  They can open up an entirely new circle of people for you to mingle with.

Having a friend in common is a no-pressure way to get talking, and you’re more likely to like each other. Get the rationale here?

Volunteering

If you have enough extra cash for eHarmony and Netflix, it’s time to give a little something back.  Find somewhere to volunteer that means something to you.  Maybe you have a soft spot for animals, or want to be a Big Brother to an in-need child.

Either way, both of you are in a position to show that you’re a good person, and you can bond over a common purpose.  But don’t go this route if you strictly want to pick up chicks at the animal shelter.  You’ll come off as insincere. Trust me, they can tell if you care whether Fluffernutter gets adopted or not.

The gist here is finding places where you can let your real personality come through, and connect with someone else without all the trappings of online profiles, first dates, or tequila shots.  Unless your rec team just won the championship.  Then have one for me.
