How Do I Find Love?

How do I find loveSo, you’re single and you’re looking for love. And your biggest question is….How do I find love?

Here’s the good news, today you have so many options to help you find love. My suggestion is, if you’re really serious about truly finding love, then you really need to focus on putting yourself out there in as many different ways as possible.

The more things you do, the better chance you have in finding love!

Here’s how you can find love:

  • Online Dating

When online dating first launched in the 90’s, singles were somewhat embarrassed to tell their friends they were using an online dating site to meet someone. They felt it would make them look desperate.

Well, now it’s 2013 and online dating has become one of the most common ways to meet that special someone. Online dating gives you access to thousands of singles you would never, ever meet on your own.

There are so many niche sites out there that based on the main characteristic or interest that you’re looking for, you’re sure to find an online dating site that meets your needs.

The one thing to remember is, online dating takes work! What you put into it, is what you’ll get out of it. You have to make a commitment to go online either every night or at least every other day. If you don’t and it takes you a week to get back to someone, s/he will move on to the next person!

There are plenty of success stories of people finding the love of their life online. So, get online and put up a profile…you never know who you’ll meet!

  • Matchmaker

Of course, I’m going to be a little biased because I am a New York Matchmaker, however a Matchmaker is another great way to find love. If you’re looking for a service that is more personalized where you work with an human being one-on-one, then matchmaking is for you.

If you’re super busy and have very little free time on your hands, then a Matchmaker is the way to go. The Matchmaker will do all the work for you, and really find you the type of person you’re looking for. You won’t waste time any more dating people who have your deal breakers. You’ll know everything about the person up front.

Hiring a Matchmaker is very similar to hiring a Real Estate Broker. You tell the Real Estate Broker all your parameters (city, acceptable neighborhoods, number of bedrooms, bathrooms, etc.) and s/he will show you the best houses that meet what you’re looking for.

A Matchmaker works in a very similar fashion. You tell her/him what you’re looking for (ethnicity, religion, age range, looks, etc.) and s/he will do all the work for you and will introduce you to the best people who meet your needs and requirements.

Again, depending on what you’re looking for, you should be able to find a Matchmaker who caters to standards. Working with a Matchmaker, can save you a lot of time, especially if you don’t have a lot of free time.

  • Speed Dating

Now, if you haven’t tried speed dating, you may be thinking, what an impersonal way to try to find love. You may think that it’s almost like a job interview. However, speed dating can be one of the most effective ways to meet a lot of people in a short period of time.

If you’re one of those people who just feels more comfortable meeting someone in person first, rather than online….then speed dating is for you. You have approximately 3 minutes with each person, to find out if you would like to get to know further and meet them for an actual date.

The good news about speed dating is, if the person in front of you is a dud, then you only have to spend 3 minutes with them. When you’re out on a bad date, that can last for a hours and can be painful.

  • Bars

While going out to a bar can be hit or miss, you definitely shouldn’t rule it out. The most important thing to remember, is to not select just any old bar.

You have to think about the type of men/women you would like to meet and then go to bars where that type of person would most likely go to.

For example, if you’re the type of woman that likes men who work in Finance, then go to bars in the financial district and go right after the market closes because that’s when they are all there. If you’re a man and you like women who are fashionable, then head to bars in the hip areas of the city. Women who are up on fashion, always go to the most hip places in the city.

  • Co-ed Social Sports Clubs

If you’re athletic and into playing sports, then one of the best ways to find love, is to join a social sports club in your city. The clubs usually don’t tout themselves as singles organizations, however the majority of people that join them are single.

You will meet a lot of new people playing whatever sport you fancy and the best part is, they usually go out for drinks/dinner after the game. So you can get to know whoever you are attracted to, on a more personal level.

The most important thing to remember is, even if you’re not attracted to anyone on the team, don’t let that detract you. Everyone has friends, and if they think you’re great, then they may set you up with one of their friends!

So, while you may feel overwhelmed with finding love, the good news is you have a lot of great options! The hardest thing to do is to get started in putting yourself out there….but once you do, you’ll be on the right path to finding love!
